Morseth Knives Eddie Bauer Edition Model 8-3 5" Fixed Blade / Stage / Satin Laminated Steel ( Pre Owned )

The Morseth brand of knives was founded by Harry Morseth, a native of Norway who emigrated to the United States at age 17. After his death in 1967, his grandson Steve Morseth continued making knives under the Morseth name. AG Russel bought the rights to the name and the equipment in 1971.

One thing that really stands out is the Morseth Blades. They were premade in Norway then shipped to the US. They used a laminated steel with a high carbon piece in the middle and two mild pieces on the outside. Harry asked them to be tempered so the inside steel was 62 HRC! The laminated steel lets you have a really hard blade in the middle, but the mild outside allows the blade to flex without chipping. There are picture from an old Morseth ad where one of the knives is bent 90 degrees in a vice.

Harry Morseth “Model #8-3” Hunter Straight Knife with very hard to find Stag handle with minor indexing. These were a limited run made for Eddie Bauer for sale in their stores across the US - kind of like how Filson has branded knives from other brands.

Blade is made of hand forged laminated steel . Has a brass guard. Produced sometime in the mid 1960's. This knife comes with a patented sheath by Harry. OAL 9.5", Handle 4.5", Blade 5”. This knife and sheath are uncarried, mint and the finest examples of Harry’s work.
