The leaf-shaped profile of the Manix 2’s blade provides a long, gently curved cutting edge and a sturdy, utilitarian point. For maximum control, it features a forefinger choil and a thumb ramp with strategic jimping (textured grooves) that allow a forward-positioned grip during detailed cutting tasks. The 14mm Trademark Round Hole™ proudly announces the knife’s Spyderco pedigree and makes one-handed deployment with either hand swift and positive.

Built on a framework of full skeletonized stainless steel liners, the Manix 2’s handle is capped with textured Forest Green G-10 scales that are the signature color of Knifeworks Exclusive family of CTS 204P knives. To ensure convenient carry and instant access, silver liners and hardware, and a silver pocket clip that is reversible for left or right-side tip-up carry.

Linking the blade and handle is Spyderco’s patented Ball Bearing Lock mechanism. This high-strength lock consists of a ball bearing nested within a durable textured polymer “cage.” When the blade is opened, a compression spring drives the cage forward to wedge the ball bearing between a ramp on the blade tang and the steel frame anchored between the handle halves. Drawing the caged ball bearing to the rear releases the lock and allows the blade to close smoothly while keeping your fingers safely away from the sharp edge.

Carpenter CTS-204P Knife Steel

Carpenter's equivalent of Bohler-Uddeholm M390 steel and Latrobe Duratech 20CV steel. Slightly more Tungsten(W) 0.65% instead of 0.60% in other two. As for the manufacturing process, Carpenter's gen 2 process should produce as fine powder as Bohler-Uddeholm's Gen 3 PM does. In other words, generation numbers are specific to specific steel maker, and not directly comparable. CTS-204p features very high wear and corrosion resistance. Fine grained alloy, popular choice for high end folders and small fixed blades. working hardness up to 62HRC. Excellent performance with both, coarse and high polished edges. You still need about 15° per side edge to get the best performance and edge holding. Thinner than that, and you will run into the issue with the thin edge not being able to support all those carbides to make the edge perform. Working hardness can reach 62HRC, and most of the production knives I've seen are in 60-62HRC range. Overall, it is of the best performers as far as corrosion and wear resistance go, and because of that it is a popular choice for high end, and the limited edition knives. Aside from very good edge holding ability, maintaining the edge is very easy. And one more thing worth noticing, there's no stubborn burr forming during sharpening, therefore, there's no risk to form a wire edge either.
