This is a Vintage Western W39 I Code ( 1988 ) skinner in fairly decent condition. It is 9.25" long overall with a 5" x 1" high carbon steel blade. As noted, the blade has some pitting and discoloration from use. It is marked, "Western, U.S.A., W39 and it has an I below the W". The knife has a wood handle with stacked leather at each end, a brass hand guard and an aluminum pommel. The handle is held in place with 2 brass rivets. The pommel has some dents and scratches on the end. The fitted Leather Sheath has some moisture stains on the back and lower front and the rivets show some surface rust. The brass snap works and is marked, "Western Cutlery". Nice old knife that shows use, but not really abuse, and has lots of life left in it.
